About ownpaas

ownpaas is made by one person: me, Mitja Martini, in Berlin.

I build small SaaS apps on the side, and since 2025 I build most of them with coding agents. Writing the app stopped being the slow part. Running it did: clusters, networks, DNS, certificates, backups, and the question what all of it will cost. Agents are good at that work too, but only where they are allowed to make mistakes, and a real cloud account is not that place.

So I built the place: a lab on my Mac that behaves like the cloud, that my agent may break, and from which the finished setup moves to my own cloud account. ownpaas is that lab, made into an app for other people in the same position.

  • Small on purpose. One person, support by email, no promises I cannot keep. The website says what exists and marks what does not.
  • Your accounts, your data. The lab runs on your Mac. The gateway and everything you move to the cloud run in your own cloud account. ownpaas runs no servers between you and your apps.
  • Paid, so it lasts. The app will be a paid product with a trial. The building blocks under it are being prepared for publication as open source, mostly under the Apache-2.0 licence, as part of PaaSbox.

ownpaas is one of three products I build around the same idea: AI agents build, deploy and run apps in small, isolated environments, on servers you rent yourself. PaaSbox Clusters keeps a k3s cluster in your own Hetzner project current, and Cloud Viewer shows your Hetzner servers and their cost on your phone.

I talk about building with AI agents for small businesses in the podcast KI Bauer (in German).
