Licensing & trial FAQ

How long is the trial, and what does it need?

Section titled “How long is the trial, and what does it need?”

14 days, with every feature. It starts the first time you open the app. It needs no account, no card and no network.

The planned prices are €129 per user per year, or €14 per user per month, including VAT. Outside the EU they are $129 a year or $14 a month, plus applicable sales tax. The first 100 founding members pay €79 (outside the EU $79) for the first year. Licences for open-source maintainers and for teaching are free on request. See Pricing.

Paddle (paddle.com), as reseller and merchant of record. Paddle sells you the licence, takes the payment, handles VAT and sends the invoice; Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the purchase. Businesses can enter their VAT ID at checkout.

A licence key comes with the purchase. Enter it in the app (Settings › Licence), and the app activates it for this Mac.

On up to 3 Macs per licence, for example a desk Mac, a laptop and a spare. To move to a new Mac, choose Deactivate in Settings › Licence on the old one first, so the activation is free again.

Only for the licence. The app checks the licence when you activate it, at launch and then once a week. Only licence data leaves your Mac: the key and its activation. Nothing about your labs, projects or apps is sent. During the trial the app makes no licence check at all. There is no telemetry.

The lab keeps working. The licence needs a successful check once every 30 days; offline for longer, the app treats the licence as ended until it can check again.

What happens when the trial or the licence ends?

Section titled “What happens when the trial or the licence ends?”
  • Keeps working: your existing labs. You can start, stop, reset and restore them, and the MCP server keeps working for your agents.
  • Stops: creating new projects, creating clusters, and Move to Cloud.

The app says why and how to get a licence. Nothing is deleted.

Yes: a 14-day money-back guarantee on the first payment for a licence, monthly or yearly, and on the renewal of a yearly licence. You get the full amount back, with no reason needed. Monthly renewals are not refunded. Ask through the link in Paddle’s receipt email or at support@mitjamartini.com; see Refunds.

The app is not open source. The building blocks it uses are being prepared for publication as open source, as part of PaaSbox; most of them under the Apache-2.0 licence. The app lists the open-source parts it bundles, with their licences.

For now, one licence per user. If you need several, buy one per person or call me for a team setup.
